May Preparations for June Celebrations
by newsletter writer Jenna Duxbury
Carolina Muse is currently closed for submissions, very much like the way that a caterpillar tucks away into a cocoon and gets busy turning itself into a goo. Our editorial team is hard at work reviewing all the wonderful submissions we received for IV.II, analyzing how each of them can work together to create the next beautiful edition of our magazine. IV.II will hatch on June 7th, 2025! Mark your calendar with a reminder to join us for our Instagram Live release party on that Saturday morning (more details coming in next month's newsletter and on our social media).
Even though we're closed for submissions at the moment, there are plenty of other awesome lit mags & multimedia publications accepting work right now! Browse the stacks on ChillSubs & Duosuma to view open calls and discover your next favorite publication (second to us, of course😉). Both of these websites offer robust filter features to refine your database search criteria and help you pinpoint the right publication for your interests.
Muse: A Carolina Creatives Juried Art Competition
We are getting ready for what's sure to be a major highlight of the year: Carolina Muse's first ever juried visual art competition! Please note that we have extended the submission deadline to midnight tonight, May 1st, so today is the last day to submit work. If you have submitted pieces for consideration in the competition, you'll hear back from us by Friday, May 9th regarding your submission's status.
Accepted works will be displayed at The Artistry Gallery in Greenville, SC through June and July 2025. On Friday evening, June 6th, we're hosting a grand opening event for the gallery exhibition. More details will be coming your way next month. But for now, mark your calendar because we'd love to have you join us!
Carolina Muse is a multi-disciplinary arts magazine, which means that we accept & publish pieces in many different art forms: photography, paintings, music, dance, poetry, short stories, sculpture, textiles, and mixed media. Even though the focus of this year's live event is on visual arts, we are encouraging artists from every discipline to attend and take part in the celebration! This gathering is a way for us to strengthen our shared sense of the Carolina Muse community as a whole. So come join us for a special evening and support our visual artists!
